Messages

Many people have been sending messages through the blog page. These have been forwarded to Thirusha and David. At difficult times (there have been more than a few) they have lifted their spirits

Thanks to everyone for your support and kindness.

Here are a few of the messages:

Many Congratulations Thirusha and David and to John too for his massive contribution to the challenge. You've made it! Awesome achievement. You won't need to dream of pedals tonight!  Just enjoy the scenery and a warm glow. Your epic ride has brought great interest and pride for all associated with the NAC and opened the minds of many to amyloidosis!

Look forward to reading about your ride through the Scottish glens, Thirusha and David. Hope you didn't lose any teeth en route and managed a quick peep at the wonderful Glaswegian architecture. Time to start counting down the miles left to JO'G. XX

Hi Thirusha and David,
I'm really enjoying reading your blog and seeing what an amazing job you are both doing with such a hard physical challenge. It's wonderful that so many patients and their families and friends are coming out to ride along with you and to provide you with such great moral support.  Keep it up, the end is in sight now!
I look forward to the ongoing updates

Sending all our love for our amazing friends ,( may the road rise to meet & the wind be forever a your backs ) Lisa , Daz , Loz , Andy & Maddie (TEAM GARLICK ) xxxxx

You two are doing so well.  We are so proud of you. You are meeting lots of people and, dare I say it, maybe enjoying yourselves, forgetting all about your aches and pains.  Best wishes for the rest of the trip. Love Mum & Dad xx

(This was from David's parents)

Sorry to have missed you yesterday especially after your long 80 mile plus day. The scorching heat across the plains must have made cycling a real struggle. Nothing much to hold it back.  It must have been such a morale booster also to have Graham to pace you across the urban areas with busy Saturday traffic to navigate. The leading Tour de France riders always have a pacer when necessary for certain situations, so why not you?! Great to have the support of Graham and meet up with Hazel and Mike in Runcorn for dinner. How wonderful to receive the cheque to round off a day which had been so challenging.
Great for Team Garlick to have joined you today. Hills are actually enjoyable after all Thirusha..... even climbing them? Great to know that Lola is becoming such a friend! Just love Ettie's postcard.....one of your many supporters who must be making your ride feel so worthwhile. So many are supporting your ride, but actually Thirusha and David, you are doing this FOR US. Massive thank you. XX

Regards,
Pat Pinchin

Hi Thirusha and David.....
More new experiences, bright bunting, fabulous food and kind hospitality, "cheeky hills", Herefordshire cattle, (did you have a cheeky Hereford cider too?)beautiful scenery,  lovely people...AND strongER legs! Really unusual architectural design of the building (dovecote?)with the clock/sundial and weather vane by the "Harvey Boys'" church. Are you saddle sore yet? Northwards to Runcorn tomorrow. Have another great day.
🚵 🚵

Pat Pinchin

Sorry to hear John became unwell and hope that he's able to rejoin the team en route.  You're all doing brilliantly!! I'm out of puff just reading about the hills and dales - the scenery sounds gorgeous.  Keep peddling!!! You can do it!!!
Sam xx

Sam Ramiz

Good luck to you all in this challenge. My wife and I live in Glasgow and are keen road cyclists. We'd love to ride out to meet you along the way if it was feasible depending on when you pass through on the 15th. My uncle, John Colls, died earlier this year in his 60s from renal failure secondary to amyloidosis. He was an incredible man - travelled all over the world, including by train from Australia to Scotland, writing books along the way and was far too young and otherwise healthy to die. If we can be of any help, either in terms of supplies (udderly smooth is your friend), support or local route suggestions please let us know.

Regards,
Michael Stallard
